When it’s time to replace the kitchen faucet
Typically kitchen faucets can be expected to last 15 years or more, but there are signs that it’s that time, even if 15 years hasn’t gone by yet.
High quality faucets will be worth having repairs, but a typical, low cost faucet should probably just be replaced. Here are some of the indications that it’s “that time”;
- If the faucet is leaking; is there water dripping out onto the counter when the faucet is turned on?
- A dull finish, or even dents is an indication that it’s time.
- If the faucet has been repaired already, and some time has gone by, maybe now it’s a good idea to replace.
- An older faucet may have a very “dated” look and no longer suit the rest of the kitchen hardware. If that is annoying each time you walk into the kitchen, then it’s better to replace it than continue to be stressed about it!
When it comes to a new fauct selection there are several options to consider;
- Single handle or seperate handles for hot and cold?
- High arch or lower arch for the spout?
- Material finish for the faucet – it’s always a good idea to match hardware finishes and styles.
