Why a kitchen island?

Kitchen islands have become almost a requirement for any kitchen, as long as there is enough space for it. They can define the kitchen space, as so often the home has an open floor plan, with fewer walls than homes used to have.

• More drawers! and perhaps shelves for cookbooks or other items.
• Concealed outlets for charging

Your contractor can advise you on the appropriate size for an island in your kitchen. It should be large enough to include some of the items listed above, but not crowd the space. There needs to be sufficient walking around space for the kitchen to be functional.
