What to do with outdated kitchen cabinets
If they are of good quality – keep them and have them updated. Many older cabinets are made from actual plywood, which you won’t be able to get today. If the main problem is they look awful, then it’s smart to keep them and have a professional repair and upgrade them.
First off, the hardware; hinges and pulls are probably very old and outdated. Select new hardware for installation. This will make a tremendous improvement.
Then the cabinet doors; if you don’t like the style, you can have new doors and drawer fronts made for your cabinets. Again, an amazing transformation!
However, if you are fine with the existing doors and drawer fronts, have them professionally refinished, and then the expert can install the new hardware as well. The holes for the new hardware may not fit the old holes, so having a professional do this is a major headache relief.
