What makes a kitchen remodel perfect?
Hmm . . . the basic answer is, you love it! But that probably isn’t the answer you were looking for. So here are the details:
A design style that you will love as much 5 years from now as you do today. Some kitchen trends may be only a fad – how do you identify and avoid those?
Consider colors; white is the most marketable color, and muted colors look great year after year. You can always include bright colored towels; a red toaster, anyone? Items that can be easily and inexpensively replaced to bring in a splash of color, is the key.
Hardwood flooring, such as oak, ash and maple will always look great and can handle high-traffic kitchen abuse. Solid hardwood flooring can be refinished many times, up to 10 times during it’s life span.
Shaker style cabinets have clean, simple lines that never get old. Their simple frame and panel design helps reduce the amount of busyness in a kitchen, making it a soothing, calming addition.
Marble, granite or engineered stone all are timeless materials for kitchen countertops. Engineered stone can be made to look like most other materials, and is long-lasting and eco-friendly.
Tile backsplashes add to their timelessness if made with subway tiles. Classic subway tiles are 3 by 6 inches and have been popular since they were first used in New Yorks subways in the early 1900’s. They just never go out of style!
