Open kitchens – good or bad?
Open kitchens can be a good choice for modern homes. Benefits include improved social interaction, more natural light, and that spacious feel we all love.
Be sure to have a properly sized exhaust hood for an open kitchen, to keep cooking odors from spreading out of the cooking area. This is a good plan no matter how open or closed the kitchen is.
Open concept kitchens have become popular in recent years, so removing a wall to open that space will only increase the value of your home.
However one potential drawback is that removing a wall means that whatever storage was on that wall will be gone. Can your kitchen handle that? Sometimes we just need to eliminate things that aren’t really being used anyway, such as small appliances that haven’t been used in years. Be sure to review the contents of your kitchen to determine if an open kitchen is right for you.
