Before and after photos of a kitchen remodel
The main concerns of people thinking about removing a wall to open up a kitchen are loss of storage; after all, what is on that wall? Usually cabinets, below and oftentimes above the counter. And what is on the other side of that wall? If it’s not the dining area, then maybe keeping the wall is still good.
Some choose to keep the lower portion of that wall, and create a pass through space, which works very well, without sacrificing storage.
The first image is the after photo; second image is before the peninsula with hanging stove exhaust was removed.

The stove was relocated to a wall with the exhaust hood. That hood was very visually impactful, and relocating really opened up the space.
